SB90 - The Horse Bill (2023 NV Session)
SB 90 is a bill in the Nevada legislature that will designate the mustang as the state horse. This will be catastrophic to Nevada's wildlife and Nevada's range lands.
There is not one sportsman in this state that has not seen the damage caused by feral horses, the largest non-native species in the United States.
This is the same as naming the Python the state snake of Florida, feral pigs the state animal in Alabama, or silver carp the state fish in Mississippi. Yet we have our state legislature voting to name the Mustang (feral horse) the state horse.
Please read the linked opposition letter and send your thoughts to the legislature. SB 90 needs to be defeated or the dominate species in Nevada will be feral horses. Contact information is included in the linked letters of opposition.
Please reach out and contact your legislators, write to the legislature, leave a message that this is idiocy that could finally drive the Sage Grouse to being put on the endangered species list, that this impacts gathers of feral horses by BLM and that this state has a population of feral horses already many time above the carrying capacity of our public lands.
